Training and consultancy

ReFocus has broadened its scope of work over the past year. We are continually seeking ways to promote well-being and mental and emotional health. We continue to offer supervision and training for management and staff within organisations. But we are now also undertaking research and evaluation projects to support strategic proposals and fund-raising around well-being or positive emotional and mental health.

I believe that in order for people to make the best possible contribution to work or to society, they need to feel good about themselves. They need to feel that they are in control of themselves and their emotions. They need to be able to plan how they can move forward in their lives.

ReFocus enables people to do these things.

Latest Research by ReFocus

The latest successful project for ReFocus was commissioned by the Bradford Safeguarding Children Board: an audit across the Bradford districtlooking atSRE and sexual health provision for disabled children and young people. The final report is has been published and all of its recommendations have been accepted by the Board. Organisations across the Bradford district are currently discussing how they will implement the proposals - this will produce a major change for disabled children and young people.

It was a major study, and involved collecting the views of young people and of parents and carers so that they could lead the research by saying what would help to make services and teaching accessible. Professionals who work with young people were also interviewed.

There is a DVD to accompany the report which presents the ideas and thoughts of a group of disabled young people themselves and can make a great starter for discussion. The young people were fantastic at speaking out honestly and openly about some of the challenges and risks which young people face today.

Disabled children and young people are some of the most vulnerable in today's communities - some things in this report might be surprising or even shocking to some people but until we look honestly at the situation, we will not be able to support disabled children to lead happy and fulfilling lives.

Building positive motivation and well-being builds high-performing teams

''Yolande helped me to understand my work stress and taught me a technique to escape the stress loop, to pinpoint areas I needed to address, and empowered me to raise these issues at work. It has been the catalyst for many positive changes in my life. The idea that I can let go of current and past problems is very liberating. '

'Fast-paced but easily understood.'

As the demands on organisations increase, the pressure on staff to continuously perform to the highest standards can produce stress. We know that a little pressure can be good for us, but too much can be dangerous.

I have worked with a wide range of organisations and know that when staff are feeling positive they can work at their best. But when negative feelings build, everyone suffers and work is jeopardised.

ReFocus works uses coaching and techniques from CBT and personal development which can have a positive impact on the way people approach their personal and work lives. We can offer a free planning session to design staff training to build the positive techniques which keep your team resilient and forward-looking even when times are challenging...

We also provide supervision or coaching for management to keep you focussed and on-track.
